The Disciple and the Bible

Jesus, Mission, and Glory: New Identity: PART I

John 13: 18-24
18"I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen.  But this is to fulfill the passage of Scripture: 'He who shared my bread has turned against me.'

19"I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am.  20Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

21After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me."

22His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.  23One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.  24Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means."

Jesus knows our heart and not all of us are chosen (v.18)

BIBLE IS AUTHORITY
--Acts 10:38 says God anointed Jesus with power; Philippians 2 says he laid aside his power.
--Jesus didn't use any resource that we don't have access to.
--Jesus knows that his actions must align with Scripture.
--Bible points to Jesus; Don't refer to the Bible in pieces.

LIFE CHANGING STORY
--Don't read the Bible as something we have to do--but as something Jesus has done.

You are what you are saturated with--What do we spend most of our time thinking about?
